Lodging

Lodging is available at the newly-renovated conference hotel is just $84 per night.

Mailings to Attendees and CAL Members

CAL is happy to be able to provide mailing services to its members on your behalf! We would be pleased to be able to get your message in front of our members or conference attendees.

We have approximately 1,250 members, and estimate that there will be 800 registered attendees for CAL 2007 by Oct 1.

Generally, a postcard mailing to CAL attendees will run $200 to $260 in postage (standard size, not oversize), and about $80 to $120 in labor.

Anything that needs to be stuffed needs more labor and higher postage, so please contact CAL for an estimate. You will be billed on exact costs -- exact postage and exact labor time utilized. Materials should shipped to the CAL office 10 days prior to the requested mailing date.

For any additional information or to get an estimate, please contact Kathleen Noland, CAL Executive Director, at kathleen@cal-webs.org or 303-463-6400.

Sponsorship Opportunities

CAL provides lots of opportunities to connect with attendees and get your name out through a variety of sponsorship options. Join our list of sponsors by supporting a keynote presentation or kicking in to buy everyone at the Awards Program dessert! For more information, contact Daphne Eastburn at dapheast@yahoo.com or phone 303/881-7411; or Dorothy Hargrove at dhargrove@ald.lib.co.us. The cost for multi-page or larger items, such as magazine or posters, is $125 per 500 pieces. Materials will need to be shipped directly to the hotel no more than 5 days prior to the conference and there is a $30 handling fee, or can be hand-carried to the show site. Please contact Dodie Ownes, Exhibits Coordinator, to reserve space at djownes@ix.netcom.com or 303/271-0420.

Dear Prospective Exhibitor/CAL Vendor Member:

The 2007 CAL Conference -- Get RadiCAL! -- will be held November 8-10, 2007 in Denver at the recently-renovated John Q. Hammons Convention Center/Holiday Inn DIA (I-70 & Chambers). Once again, we expect at least 1,200 school, public, academic, and special librarians from Colorado and the neighboring states to return in 2007. Once again, we will enjoy 10 foot wide booths, and there has been no increase in the cost to exhibit.

Set-up time begins on Thursday, Nov. 8, at 10 a.m., and continues through 5 p.m. Exhibits open on Friday, Nov. 9, at 8 a.m., with coffee and rolls in the exhibit hall for over an hour of no-conflict time, and close at 5:30 p.m., with 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. being no-conflict time as well. Exhibits reopen Saturday morning, Nov. 10, at 8 a.m. with coffee and rolls in the exhibit hall, an hour before any sessions start. Another no-conflict time begins at noon, right before the exhibit day closes at 1 p.m., with a networking lunch with the exhibitors. Exhibitors will have until 5 p.m. to complete breakdown.

Other conference highlights include opening keynote Nancy Pearl of Booklust fame, ALA's President-elect, Dr. Loriene Roy, and a presentation from folks at FightTheBull.com, authors of Why Business People speak Like Idiors. As conference gets closer, we'll have more information available on pre-conference programs and conference workshops, too.

Please see the space application and floor plan for more details. All decorating and utility forms will be provided in exhibitor kits sent after receipt of a completed application with payment. The exhibit hall will be locked at night, and there will be hotel security to keep your materials safe. We only have 96 8 x 10 booth spaces, so get your application in as soon as possible. A conference schedule at-a-glance will be available on the CAL Web site for your planning purposes.

CAL can help you with preconference mailings, program advertising, and CAL Conference event sponsorship choices. See the complete list of opportunities. Daphne Eastburn or Dorothy Hargrove would be delighted to hear from you. Your support is so important to us, and very appreciated by all CAL members, not just conference attendees.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me, or CAL Executive Director Kathleen Noland at kathleen@cal-webs.org. We’re looking forward to seeing you at A ClassiCAL Celebration of Libraries and Literature, November 9-12, in Denver at the newly-renovated John Q. Hammons Convention Center.

Sincerely,
Dodie Ownes, MLS
