Charge
- Review and revise award criteria as necessary.
- Solicit nominations and select award recipients in accordance with established criteria.
- Arrange for the trophies/ plaques, develop awards publications, and, in conjunction with the Conference Planning Committee, arrange the awards presentation at the annual conference.
NOMINATION CRITERIA FOR CAL AWARDS

Have an amazing co-worker, incredible community member, or outstanding library program or service? Start gathering your nomination materials now! You will need at least one letter of support and other supplemental items like newspaper clippings, photographs, testimonials from patrons, or other supporting documents.
Nominate a deserving member of the library community! Here's how:
- Visit the awards page of the CAL Web site at http://www.cal-webs.org/committees1_2.html to review the descriptions and requirements for each award.
- Write a letter of nomination to include with the nomination form
- This letter should include the attributes and characteristics that make the nominee an obvious selection for the award for which they are being nominated. The letter should describe in depth the accomplishments and contributions which deserve recognition.
- Remember that some of the awards have specific requirements for eligibility. All awards require CAL membership unless otherwise noted in the award description.
- Obtain a letter of support for your nominee.
- Attach to with the online form.
- The letter of support should be submitted as a separate document. It should include the attributes and characteristics that make the nominee an obvious selection for the award for which they are being nominated and should include detailed descriptions of the contributions which deserve recognition.
- Gather supplemental materials (optional)
- Can include supporting documents such as an additional letter of support, a photo of the nominee or project, newspaper clippings, customer comments or any other evidence of the nominee’s merits.
- Attach each supplemental document individually (maximum of 3) to the online nomination form. Or mail them to the Awards Committee Chair.
- Fill out the online nomination form on the CAL website and attach the letter of nomination as well as the letter of support. Make sure you click the SUBMIT button! The nomination will be sent to Anna Winkel, Awards Committee Chair, at awinkel@gcld.org. Contact her if you have any questions.

- Nomination deadline is 5:00 pm on June 16, 2008. All materials for a successful nomination must be sent no later than midnight on June 16 for the nominee to be considered. E-mail nominations are preferred; however, if submitted via traditional postal service, send the print nominations and letters to Anna Winkel, c/o Grand County Library District, PO Box 1050, Granby, Colorado 80446.
Awards for 2008 will be presented at a dinner ceremony at the CAL Conference in November 2008.
The CAL Awards Committee bases award winners on the nomination materials submitted. All committee decisions are final.
