CLEF

The Colorado Library Educational Foundation (CLEF) is a nonprofit organization that supports continuing education for CAL members through scholarships and fundraising.

CLEF provides financial assistance for:

  • Registration fees for CAL workshops and educational events
  • Registration and travel support for the annual CAL Conference (CALCON)

CLEF is governed by the CAL Executive Board and operates in alignment with CAL’s mission and bylaws.

Governance & Structure

  • The Executive Board oversees CLEF’s operations, budget, and disbursement of funds.
  • The Board includes CAL’s President, President-Elect, Past President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
  • All Board members must be U.S. citizens, Colorado residents, and individual CAL members in good standing.
  • The Board meets at least four times per year and may vote between meetings as needed.

Committees Supporting CLEF

Scholarship Committee

  • Recommends scholarship recipients and develops the annual scholarship budget. Members are appointed by their association presidents.

Fundraising Committee

  • Coordinates fundraising efforts through donations and other activities. Open to volunteers from the CAL community.

Executive Committee

  • Acts on behalf of the Board between meetings to address urgent matters, with actions reported at the next full Board meeting.

Fiscal Responsibility

  • CLEF operates on a calendar-year fiscal cycle.
  • All expenses must be authorized by the Executive Board.
  • Financial records are reviewed annually.
  • CAL staff manage CLEF’s financial operations and reporting.
