CALLI Information

Thank you for your interest in applying for the Colorado Association of Libraries Leadership Institute (CALLI).

The deadline to apply is Monday, March 16, 2020 at 5:00 pm (MST).  

In order to be eligible to apply, applicants must be a CAL member or agree to become a CAL
member upon acceptance. Applicants must live and work in Colorado. There is no minimum
or maximum length of time worked in the library field and a Masters of Library Science degree
is not required to apply.

In addition to the above, you are qualified to apply if you:

  • currently work in the library field,
  • have a Masters of Library Science degree,
  • are currently working on a Masters of Library Science degree, or
  • any combination of the above.


If selected:

  • Fellows must attend all sessions; participate in all discussions, activities, exercises,
    and online discussion; and complete all required readings and assignments.

  • Participant fee is $300 and due upon acceptance. Individual expenses will vary
    depending on travel, hotels, meals, etc. Please see the FAQ sheet

    for more information about estimated costs.

  • After completing the program, participants will commit to two years of service within
    CAL to practice leadership skills learned in CALLI.
     

    The 2020-2021 cohort will start in August 2020 with an introductory webinar covering CAL
    Leadership Institute (CALLI) goals, logistics, and “how-tos,” and we will gather together
    in-person on August 25-27, 2020, for an informative two-day workshop designed to spearhead
    the 13-month leadership journey.

Additional sessions are outlined in the Curriculum Overview, and participants can expect to
meet monthly, either in person or online. For more details about the time commitment, see

For your application, please address the following points in an essay (1-2 pages),
or a 2-5 minute multimedia presentation of your choice (e.g. video, screencast,
PowerPoint, or other digital/online presentation tool):

  1. Why are you interested in this program? What skills do you hope to gain or enhance
    through participation in this program?

  2. Describe your experience with leadership, including your own roles or traits as well
    as an example of a leader you admire and why.

  3. CALLI values equity, diversity, and inclusion. Discuss your experience and
    commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. You may include professional and
    non-professional roles.

  4. For the two year CAL service requirement, how do you see yourself participating as
    a leader or in a leadership role within CAL?
