We encourage our CAL members to get involved with a committee. Click on the name of a committee to learn more. Participation in CAL's committees is a benefit of CAL membership; however, non-members may audit a committee meeting before joining CAL.

(Tip: First, you must LOGIN to your CAL account.) *Members are encouraged to contact chairs to express interest in any committees/groups added to your profile and must contact the CAL Leadership Institute (CALLI) Committee co-chairs BEFORE adding CALLI or the Mentorship Interest Group co-chairs BEFORE adding MIG to member profiles. Chairs are listed in CAL's member directory and on their committee or group pages. Chairs have access to current committee rosters via CAL’s member directory.

CLEF Executive Committee

CLEF provides CAL Members with scholarships to various CAL workshops and education events and the annual CAL conference.

CLEF Auction

This committee plans the annual fundraiser held at CALCON.

Scholarship Committee

The executive board of CAL reviews the scholarship applications sent in for various CAL workshops and conferences.

CALCON Committees


Planning Committee

The conference planning committee is focused on organizing the annual conference for CAL members as a function of the CAL Board.

The Awards Committee solicits nominations from libraries across the state to honor and recognize exemplary work in Colorado libraries.

Site Selection

When needed, the site selection committee will scout for and negotiate the selection of a site for the annual conference.

Policy Committees


General Policy: Coordinate the efforts of the Legislative & Intellectual Freedom Committees in advocating for libraries and library services.

Intellectual Freedom

Support First Amendment rights and provide education on intellectual freedom.

Legislative Committee

Recommend and follow the mandate of the CAL membership’s legislative agenda.

CALLI

CALLI develops leaders for the library community by organizing the leadership institute - focusing on leadership styles, advocacy, & relationships.

Membership Committee

 Our committee goal is to recruit and retain individual, institutional and corporate members to CAL by emphasizing its benefits.
The Membership Committee is seeking a new chair or co-chairs.


Communications Committee

Keeping library workers connected throughout the state via social media and the quarterly newsletter.


The Career Development Committee supports library professionals
 by offering opportunities to network, socialize, and gain advice and
professional development through events and programming.

Ensure membership has educational and professional learning opportunities in the areas of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
