ALA Virtual - Community Through Connection Event
Though disappointed to cancel the 2020 ALA Annual Conference & Exhibition scheduled for June 2020, the ALA Conference Committee is thrilled to offer the opportunity to learn and connect via a virtual event for the library community this Summer. ALA Virtual – Community Through Connection will take place June 24-26, 2020. The virtual event is not a substitute for the onsite conference, and the Committee looks forward to meeting face-to-face once again. But given the circumstances, this virtual gathering sends the strong message that all can—and will—remain connected during this unprecedented time. Moreover, the committee is thrilled to announce that through the generous support of their sponsors, they've lowered the cost of attendance from $175 to $60 for ALA Members. And for Members who have recently been furloughed or laid off or are experiencing a reduction of paid work hours, there is no cost at all to participate. The event itself will feature a portfolio of quality educational programming; COVID-19 related information pertinent to libraries; live-chat opportunities with authors and engaging speakers; and an exhibitor showcase and Book Buzz presentations. ALA Virtual will have a full agenda and a comprehensive roster of sessions and are hoping for robust participation. With a short timeframe for marketing, they need your help. They are requesting your assistance in promoting the event to your staff and members. To do this, they will provide you with promotional copy and a digital graphic to include in an upcoming newsletter or email. To indicate their sincerest thanks, they will display your library or association name during the event. Please reach out to Donna Hunter, Conference Marketing Specialist at [email protected], and she will follow up with materials and answers to any questions you may have. The ALA Conference Committee thanks you in advance for your consideration and wishes you the very best during this time. |
